Descrizione del progetto<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

LEVIATAD mira a creare il primo Eurocluster di eccellenza nell’ambito della difesa navale attraverso la cooperazione, in termini di sinergie e integrazione, tra i partner di progetto. L’obiettivo sar\u00e0 raggiunto seguendo un piano d’azione articolato in tre fasi:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Map the naval and air defense sector value chain after the pandemic crisis to better understand the structure of the European ecosystem and potential transnational synergies and complementarities. This will allow the Consortium to draw lessons from the sector's disruptions and dependencies and develop a more efficient industrial strategy that incorporates the principles of the green and digital transitions and increases resilience and competitiveness within a long-term European strategic approach.<\/li>\n
  2. Implement actions to support SMEs in their transition to strategic technological innovation, considered as the starting point for their resilience towards autonomy, while simultaneously strengthening European sovereignty in the defense sector. Support measures include thematic training workshops and financial support measures.<\/li>\n
  3. \"Go-to-international<\/em>\", or additional support measures to help SMEs acquire expertise in third-country markets. The aim is to promote action plans to improve Europe's position in the value chain, supporting innovation processes and encouraging SMEs to strengthen cooperation with major public and private groups in national, European, and international markets.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
The LEVIATAD Consortium<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The LEVIATAD consortium brings together the expertise and value chains needed to successfully address the project's key objectives, including stakeholders and experts in marine and defense technologies to maximize the impact of the joint effort at the European level. The project partnership comprises five clusters tasked with engaging SMEs that will benefit from the services implemented to foster their innovation and internationalization, and the Azienda Speciale Riviere di Liguria (Chambers of Commerce of Savona, Imperia, and La Spezia), specialized in enhancing internationalization and serving as a contact point for the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The\u00a0Ligurian Marine Technologies District (DLTM)<\/strong>\u00a0promotes research, innovation, and training, fostering continuous interaction and synergy between research institutions and businesses. The cluster involves approximately 120 companies\u201482 of which are SMEs\u2014the University of Genoa, the three main national public research institutions based in Liguria (CNR, ENEA, INGV) engaged in maritime and marine research and technological development, and large companies (Fincantieri, LEONARDO, Intermarine, Termomeccanica) engaged in the production and development of marine software and hardware technologies. The cluster also includes medium and large companies operating in the information technology sector. The DLTM, which represents Liguria's regional excellence in specific technologies, operates nationally and internationally in naval technologies for both the defense and civil sectors, in technologies for shipbuilding and recreational craft, and in the monitoring, remediation, and safety of marine ecosystems. The DLTM is responsible for promoting collaboration between the maritime industry and marine science, supporting research, innovation, education, and new synergies between public and private organizations.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The company has approximately 100 members and 320 associates and is the point of reference for the Tuscan regional public administration for coordinating the network of local agencies that aim to improve the competitiveness of the recreational boating industry, promoting innovation opportunities, and coordinating the PENTA network (Innovation Center for Recreational Boating and Naval Technologies of Tuscany). Navigo maintains close contact with all universities and research centers in Tuscany. The vision of the\u00a0Croatian Competitiveness Cluster of Defence Industry (CCCDI)<\/strong>\u00a0is to continuously stimulate and encourage the innovation of domestic scientific and production resources for defense and security, as well as to increase the share of investment in research and development for the creation of new products and services. The cluster's work, capabilities, and projects have been recognized in several key strategic documents for the development of the Republic of Croatia, such as the Croatian Innovation Strategy 2014\u20132020 and the Croatian Smart Specialization Strategies 2016\u20132020. One of the cluster's primary objectives is to serve as a platform for ongoing support and the exchange of ideas between defense and security businesses and scientific and state institutions, with the aim of generating new products and services capable of addressing current and future threats to the security of society as a whole. The cluster's goal is also to promote a unified position among defense sector players towards state institutions and policymakers on scientific research, technological development, and modernization. Collaboration in research and development and new innovative projects are essential for the technological advancement of the entire industrial sector of the Republic of Croatia and to encourage investment and cooperation with a view to strengthening the national economy.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The entire project is divided into a series of interconnected work packages (WPs) that aim to guide the partners' actions toward achieving the project's main objectives. The entire structure is sequential, and the WPs are divided into three categories:<\/p>\n

The workshop is the first in a series of activities aimed at SMEs, which also have a dedicated call for proposals to financially support their innovation and internationalization efforts. The session aims to highlight synergies between SMEs, identify potential collaborations, and publicize the key aspects of the project's call for proposals.<\/p>\n

Call for proposals \"Support for innovation and internationalization of European SMEs in the defense sector\" (03\/07\/2023 \u2013 04\/09\/2023)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The call represents the project's key action, providing direct, non-repayable financial support for the innovation and internationalization projects of 50 European SMEs and start-ups operating (or wishing to operate) in the naval and air defense sector.<\/p>\n

Through a maximum contribution of \u20ac20,000, the call finances projects that fall within the thematic areas (investment priorities<\/em>) identified thanks to the implementation of WP1 and which aim to promote:<\/p>\n

  1. innovation, green transition and digitalisation;<\/li>\n
  2. the presence of European SMEs in international value chains.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The call for proposals runs from July 3, 2023, to September 4, 2023. Successful projects must be implemented within eight months of signing the grant agreement and no later than August 1, 2024.<\/p>\n
