La Spezia, 15 aprile 2026 What is the role of the Ligurian Marine Technologies District in promoting innovation in the region? What are its strategic activities? How do its member companies and SMEs communicate and collaborate? What laboratories and services are promoted? What impetus do members provide to the development of the Blue Economy, and what advantages does being part of the consortium provide them? How important are opportunities for discussion among its stakeholders? What impact do the district's projects have on the innovation system and the local economy?

These questions were answered today at the DLTM headquarters in the former Falcomatà military hospital in La Spezia, during the official visit of Liguria Region President Marco Bucci, who met with President Lorenzo Forcieri, the staff, and a representative of the Board of Directors and associated companies. The meeting was attended by La Spezia Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini, Tecnomar Consortium President Cristiana Pagni, and Marittimo Nord Interregional Commander Flavio Biaggi.

A fruitful moment, it also became a valuable opportunity to update the organization on the activities and projects of the DLTM and the eponymous research and innovation hub it manages: Leviadad, dedicated to the creation of a European naval defense cluster; Blue Ports, which provides free courses to port personnel to equip them with skills related to the green transition; and Be Stream-Power, an Interreg Italy-France project promoting employment policies in the Blue Economy sector.

In addition, the actions planned for the development of the sector in the immediate future were also illustrated.

"We are delighted and honored to have hosted President Bucci at our headquarters," stated DLTM President Lorenzo Forcieri. "As the manager of a regional innovation and research hub, it is crucial for the district to show him the work we have accomplished to date and to preview what we will be doing in the coming months and years, also counting on the institution's invaluable support. Our relationship with the Region is a driving force to continually improve, to propose projects that are strategic for the development of the maritime economy and can be leveraged for the productive and economic system."

"This is truly an excellent system for bringing together knowledge, skills, and projects," said Liguria Regional President Marco Bucci. "I'm very pleased that the Marine Technologies hub in La Spezia is working well: here we also have the Underwater Technologies hub, the University that offers courses in naval and nautical engineering. We truly are in a place that encompasses skills and knowledge second to none, and this is a great asset for the region, with significant economic and employment benefits. We expect it to grow even further in the future. I thank the management team for their work, which I'm sure will continue to do well. I also thank all the participating companies, because they demonstrate they are up to speed."

During the meeting, the president of Tecnomar, which represents the district's SMEs, outlined the consortium's work supporting these businesses. "We are truly pleased that President Bucci appreciated our approach to bringing universities and businesses together and what we do for SMEs, which, with the district's support, can keep pace with the rapid and numerous changes underway."
