The Ligurian District for Marine Technologies S.c.r.l. (DLTM) is a private-majority consortium company with limited liability, established on 8 July 2009 under the Framework Programme Agreement between the Liguria Region, the Ministry of Education, University and Research (now the Ministry of University and Research), and the Ministry of Economic Development (now the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy).
DLTM fosters integration between businesses and the research system in Liguria by promoting technological development, innovation transfer — with a particular focus on SMEs — skills development, training, and support for start-ups and spin-offs. It also acts as a node within the national and international network of technological districts under the National Maritime Technology Platform.
Over the years, DLTM has grown steadily, expanding its membership base, whose members operate across three main areas:
- naval systems for shipbuilding and recreational boating;
- naval systems for defence and security;
- monitoring, remediation, and safety of the marine environment.
Its governance model ensures a balanced interplay between industry and research through the Board of Directors, with a predominantly business-oriented composition, and the Technical-Scientific Committee, with a predominantly academic and scientific composition.
