La Spezia – Barcelona, November 4 – A new synergy is born on the shores of the Mediterranean. The Escola Europea – Intermodal Transport and the Ligurian Marine Technologies District have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at sharing knowledge, skills, and opportunities along the paths of international training and mobility.
The signing on October 29th between Eduard Rodés, Director of the Escola Europea, and Lorenzo Forcieri, President of the DLTM, marks the launch of a partnership that will lead to joint initiatives under the Erasmus+ program. Thanks to this agreement, students, professionals, and institutions in the logistics and maritime sectors will have access to growth and exchange opportunities that will promote sustainable transport, port logistics, and intermodality.
The agreement stems from a shared vision: to build bridges between the Ligurian maritime cluster and the port and educational community of Barcelona. By connecting Ligurian businesses, universities, and research centers with the Escola's educational network, the collaboration aims to build a more connected, competitive, and sustainable Mediterranean.
"This agreement strengthens our educational bridge between Italy and Spain," said Eduard Rodés, Director of the Escola Europea. "Through our cooperation with DLTM, we can create new opportunities for students and professionals, allowing them to experience intermodality firsthand, share experiences, and build the future of logistics and the sea together."
"The agreement with the Escola Europea de Barcelona strengthens the DLTM's international vocation and opens up new growth opportunities for our companies in this sector," added Lorenzo Forcieri, President of the Ligurian Marine Technologies District. "The recently signed memorandum of understanding represents the opportunity to acquire advanced skills in the maritime and logistics sector and to develop highly innovative European projects, contributing to the competitiveness, sustainability, and internationalization of the Ligurian region."
The project also focuses on younger generations, exploring synergies with the Port Academies initiative in Italy—inspired by the success of the Forma't program at the Port of Barcelona—to bring logistics and port operations directly into vocational schools. This is a concrete way to introduce young people to the world of ports and prepare them for the challenges of the blue economy.
With an increasingly strong commitment in Italy, Escola and DLTM demonstrate that cooperating beyond borders is not only possible, but necessary to build a more sustainable, digital, and humane maritime future.
