PYXIS
Integrated Mast for the Military Ship System
Scope: Naval Technologies for Defense and Security
Duration: December 2012 – November 2016
Study of an "integrated tree" (MAST) for the Naval Military System aimed at reducing current conflicts between equipment (antennas and sensors) and improving overall performance by solving numerous technical problems. The project overcomes current compromises between equipment, adopting a more modern and competitive design approach, one that is not based on compromises but aligned with foreign strategies.
The main issues addressed will be:
- integrability of the shaft into the platform (space, structural robustness, electrical absorption, heat dissipation, fluid dynamic compatibility of the structure and gases)
- mutual electromagnetic interference
- compliance with electromagnetic signature (RCS) requirements
- electromechanical interference between the mast wiring and all other systems on the platform.
