Activities carried out

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed for a shared transformation path towards a "smart community" (or Smart City), also in light of the new financial opportunities of the 2014-2020 EU programming period. The objective of this memorandum is to develop, in close synergy with public and private entities operating in the area (CSSN, INGV, CNR, ENEA, DLTM, Promostudi La Spezia, Municipality of La Spezia, Port Authority of La Spezia, Province of La Spezia, Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture of La Spezia), a common path aimed at identifying actions and interventions useful for the creation of a "wide-area smart community" capable of producing skills, high technology, innovation, research and technology transfer, new forms of collaboration between businesses and new public-private partnerships, in order to catalyze and accelerate development processes and improve the attractiveness and quality of life of the area.

These activities led to the creation of five thematic working groups for each of the areas of interest identified for the La Spezia area, with overall coordination by the Municipality of La Spezia and technical and methodological support provided by the Torino Wireless Foundation, which won the contract.

Table 5 is dedicated to Marine Innovation and Technologies. Coordinated by the Port Authority of La Spezia, together with DLTM as Team Leader, the table will address the following topics: technological innovation related to new needs, as highlighted by the European Directive on Marine Strategy; short- and medium-range maritime navigation; the implementation of mobility strategies in Italy; adapting logistics to urban needs; recovering and preserving maritime traditions; and passing on scientific and technological knowledge to future generations.

The aim is to present 5 projects/actions to be developed in the territory, one of which could be financed by RL under the "City" axis of the new ERDF 14-20 programming, while the other 4 could be financed through European H2020 calls.
